Obituary of Stephen J. Markijohn

KINGSVILLE- Stephen J. Markijohn, 84, of Conneaut, passed away, Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home. He was born, April 5, 1929, in Conneaut, the son of the late Tony and Alena (Lenhart) Markijohn, he had been a lifelong area resident. He married the love of his life Charlotte Eaton on August 11, 1953. Mr. Markijohn was a member of the First Assembly of God for many years, where he worked as the custodian with his wife Charlotte for many years. Steve worked as a coal hopper for the Nickel Plate Railroad for many years before his retirement. He also worked at Ashtabula Auto Parts for many years. Stephen enjoyed working on cars, and learning about trains, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Charlotte; son, Rev. Joseph Markijohn and his wife Jean; brother, Anthony Markijohn; grandchildren, Tina Conjako and Brian Curtis; and his parents. Stephen is survived by his daughters, Joy (Guy) Hale of Chardon, Noel (Tim) Anderson of Mentor-on-the-Lake, Patti Markijohn-Rantamaki of Conneaut, and Evelyn Hicks of Chardon; sons, Steve Markijohn of Linesville, PA, and Ed (Cindi) Ireland of Nashville, TN ; brother, James (Norma) Markijohn; sister-in-law, Albertine Markijohn; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 12:00 PM at the THOMPSON-SMITH-NESBITT FUNERAL HOME, 345 Main St., Conneaut, with Rev. Carson Robson, pastor of the Conneaut Church of God, officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens. Calling hours will be held on Friday, from 11 AM until the time of service at noon. Should friends desire memorial contributions may be made in his name to the family.
