Obituary of Dorothy J. Wheeler

Dorothy June Wheeler, 76, of Gore Rd., Conneaut, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at University Hospital after a long illness. Dorothy was born February 9, 1937 in Conneaut, Ohio the daughter of Blanche (nee Kinnear) and Arthur L. Norton, Sr. She married the love of her life, Paul J. Wheeler, Sr. on February 6, 1954. Dorothy was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Rowe High School. She was a member of Amboy United Methodist Church. Mrs. Wheeler enjoyed her monthly get together's with the birthday club, as well as playing Bingo and crafts. Most of all she loved her family and grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Paul J. Wheeler, Sr.; children, Paul J. (Chris) Wheeler, Jr. of Pittsburg, Patricia A. Sharpe of Columbus, Karen A. Ring of Conneaut, Sandra D. Waters of Columbus, Pamala L. (Stephen) Gebe of Conneaut and Michael J. Wheeler of Columbus; brother, Arthur L. Norton, Jr. of Columbus; grandchildren, Matthew and Justin Wheeler, Allison Pirc, Joshua and Joseph Sharpe, Herbert and Brian Waters, Melissa Smith and Stephen and Krystin Gebe; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will be held, Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the Amboy United Methodist Church, 550 W. Main Rd., Conneaut, with Pastor Mary Prior, officiating. Inurnment will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 1 PM until time of services at 2 PM. A memorial dinner will be held at the church after the graveside committal services. Memorial contributions may be given to the family in care of the funeral home. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
