There are so many memories growing up with loving parents like ours, 4 siblings can only say what a great way to grow up. Our summer vacations were adventures all over Conneaut especially Conneaut Creek with our 2 dogs -- Pudgy and Duke (he adopted us). We plays a lot in the creek and the best day of all was prankster day when brother Robert told all the girls there were blood suckers in the water that would suck the blood out of us. And low and behold, Sylvia squealed because Nancy took her hands out of the water and there was the ugliest black blood sucker stuck on her pinks. Good thing there was the local homeless guy close by, he used his cigarette to burn it off. From that day forward, no getting into the water for Syl or Nancy.
The irony of it all is they both loved to go fishing as adults. They had cooked up plans that when Sylvia and Jim retired, they would move to Conneaut, buy the little house we grew up in on Liberty Street and open a little country store. It would be called Three Sisters. The store would be full of all the arts and crafts that all three of us did routinely, plus all the canning and foods my little company makes. The deal was they would work the store, but when it was fishing time, they were out of there with the sign posted "Gone Fishing".
So I guess I am left running the store and the two sisters have Gone Fishing. Bless there hearts!
