Obituary of Ruth J. Gerics

Conneaut- Ruth J. Gerics, 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2019, surrounded by her loving family and is reunited with her beloved husband, Joseph J. Gerics.

She was born on August 5, 1924 in Concord, Massachusetts the daughter of Paul H. and Olive F. (Loring) Edwardsen. Ruth graduated from the Boston School of Nursing.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Conneaut Troop Support Group, supporting local troops during Operation Desert Storm. Ruth was also a 60-year member of the Bonanza card club.

Her passion was counted cross stitch and enjoyed giving her projects to others. Ruth also loved to crochet many afghans for others and enjoyed many sewing projects as well. Her internationally renowned banana bread, was also a much sought-after desert! Ruth was also game for a trip to the casino.

Mrs. Gerics is survived by her children, Jane Carr, Janet (Ed) Kamppi, Stephen (Georgia) Gerics and Joan (Tim) Hewlett; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph J. Gerics in 1996; and a brother, Paul Edwardsen, Jr.

Calling hours will be held, Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 4PM-7PM at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at 10AM at the funeral home, with Rev. Carson Robson, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorials in memory of Ruth may be given to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Rd., Ashtabula, Ohio, 44004. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the Villa at the Lake for the tremendous love, care and compassion they showed their mother for the past four years.
