My favorite memory of Uncle Cy is from the 1970s. I was 8 or 9 and was visiting Granda and grandpa Bort. My parents took my grandparents to the horse track with Aunt Mary and left Uncle Cy in charge to babysit. We were playing baseball in the field next to the house when someone noticed black smoke coming from a neighbor down the street. Uncle Cy loaded all the kids in the back of the truck and took us to the fire. We all enjoyed watching the firemen work and seeing the trucks. Aunt Mary and grandma were not very happy about it and gave him a scolding. I will always remember that experience.
